Randa Atkins Obituary, Death – It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mrs. Randa Adkins of Union City, who peacefully departed this life early Saturday morning at the Obion County Nursing Home. A pillar of the community, Mrs. Adkins touched the lives of many through her dedication to education and her unwavering commitment to her community. Mrs. Adkins was a longstanding member of the First United Methodist Church in Fulton, KY, where her faith and community involvement were evident. Her impact as an educator resonates through the Obion County School System, where she dedicated an impressive 33 years to shaping young minds. In 2005, she retired from her teaching career, leaving behind a legacy of inspiration and knowledge.

Having spent the majority of her life in this close-knit community, Mrs. Adkins was a beloved figure known for her kindness, generosity, and devotion to her students. Her influence extended beyond the classroom, reaching into the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Mrs. Adkins is survived by her sister, Carol Nabors Mann of Union City, TN, a testament to the enduring bonds of family that she held dear. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Michael Shane Brown and Brooke Michelle Brown Nelms, both of Fulton, KY, and a great-grandchild, Loren Paul Nelms, Jr.

In honoring her memory, funeral services will be held on Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow at the New Hope Cemetery in Weakley County. Friends and community members are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. or on Monday from 8 a.m. until the funeral hour. Mrs. Randa Adkins was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah Jane (Breeden) and James Calvin Nabors, a daughter Brenda Brown, and a brother James Terry Nabors. As we bid farewell to a dedicated educator, a faithful church member, and a beloved family member, let us remember the impact she had on our lives and the legacy she leaves behind. May she rest in peace.
